In Exodus 2, Moses has two mothers; his Hebrew mother, who nurses him and the daughter of Pharaoh, financially supports adopts him, names him. Pharaoh’s appears in scholarly discussions, yet little attention is given to her role as mother Moses. Indeed, this motherhood downplayed biblical texts, also scholarship, wherein Pharaoh absent from many discussions mothers at times relegated beneath birthmother commentaries.
